Are You Also an Atheist?

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Jimmy Thunder on YouTube made the comment to me; “you realise [sic] you’re also an atheist right? with regards to every single other deity except the one you’ve ‘chosen'”

To answer Jimmy’s question; Jimmy you are wrong, I am not an Atheist. I have never been an Atheist nor will I ever be an Atheist. I am a Theist. Specifically, I am a Theist who due to the abundance of evidence supporting one specific God, believes in God as described in the Bible.

This is not the first time that I’ve been called an ‘Atheist’ by someone who claims to be an Atheist. Jimmy and the other people who claim to be an Atheist who have made a comment to me like Jimmy did do not understand exactly what it means to be an Atheist.

To be an Atheist one must practice Atheism. Atheism is, in a broad sense, the rejection of belief in the existence of deities. In a narrower sense, Atheism is specifically the position that there are no deities. Most inclusively, Atheism is the absence of belief that any deities exist. Atheism is contrasted with Theism, which, in its most general form, is the belief that at least one deity exists.

The term Theism derives from the Greek theos meaning “god”. Atheism is rejection of theism in the broadest sense of Theism; i.e. the absence of belief that there is even one deity. The term “Atheism” originated from the Greek ἄθεος (atheos), meaning “without god(s)”, used as a pejorative term applied to those thought to reject the gods worshiped by the larger society.

When a person says to someone who believes at least one god exists that the person who believes in at least one god is an Atheist to all other gods, the person making the claim is showing their ignorance as to what an Atheism actually is.

Christ Jesus said (Matthew 12:30); “Anyone who isn’t with me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me is actually working against me.” Therefore all Atheists are actually working against Christ Jesus.

Yet, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13

Something for all Atheists to ponder; If there is no God, as many Atheists aggressively proclaim, then there is no absolute standard for morality and it would be foolish to say something is right (correct) or wrong. Yet I’m sure as has happened often before, many Atheists will make the claim that I am wrong.
