All roads lead to God?

Reading Time: 3 minutes

“All roads lead to God,” or “All religions lead to God,” are something that you may have heard in some form or another because it is a common belief today held by many people around the world. These people believe that all religions are a road leading to God. Behind their belief, is the idea that all beliefs should be tolerated and that any claim to ultimate truth is arrogant.

As a follower of Christ Jesus, a “Christian,” I go by what Jesus himself said:

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

John 14:6 6

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

Matthew 7:13-14

When we read the word narrow, we tend to associate it with prejudicial selection. It sounds as though God has rated us all on some scale of acceptability and only allows a select few to enter His presence. However, a few verses earlier, Jesus had told the same audience, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened” (Matthew 7:7–8). Jesus made it clear: the path to eternal life is open to everyone who asks.

However, the gate to heaven is “narrow” in the sense of having a particular requirement for entrance—faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is found only in the Person of Jesus Christ; He is the only way (John 14:6). The “wide” gate is non-exclusive; it allows for human effort and all other of the world’s religions.

Not everyone, however, chooses to enter the “narrow gate” and accept Christ Jesus as their Savior. That is their choice to freely make. They can go down whatever road they want to travel with their life.

Yet, as everyone knows taking a wrong turn on a path, trail, or road, or taking the wrong bus or airplane, or having a map which leaves out key information (false religions), will not get you to the intended destination.

If you have yet to enter the “narrow gate” and accept Christ Jesus as your Savior, why not do so today?

God does not send anyone to Hell, nor does He take pleasure in having people go there.

“… ‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways!…’” (Ezekiel 18:23; Ezekiel 33:11)

Yet God loves you (wicked person) and does not want to impose Himself on you and thus only those people who chose to not be with God go to Hell per their own choice to not be with God.

I suggest that you be wise, chose today to enter the “narrow gate” and be with God. Tell Christ Jesus right now that you are sorry for all the wrong you have knowingly done and ask His forgiveness and tell Him that you want Him to be your Savior.
