A Stark Difference than that of Atheist Teachings

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life, but the others to disgrace and everlasting contempt. Daniel 12:2

Daniel 12:2 is a reference to the resurrection of both the righteous (those who accept God) and the wicked (those who do not accept God) although the eternal fates of each will be quite different. It's a way of describing the future bodily resurrection of both the saved (those who accept God) and the lost (those who reject God). This is a stark difference than that of atheist teachings; everyone at death just no longer exists.

The bible refers to people who have died as that they are sleeping. Being asleep, everyone will awaken to their eternal life. Those people, who have accepted God as their Lord and Savior, will awake to live with God forever (in Heaven) while those people who have not accepted God as their Lord and Savior, will awake to live forever (in Hell) without God.

In both the Old Testament and in the New Testament, salvation is based upon Christ Jesus. This verse (Daniel 12:2) is in the Old Testament and is before Christ Jesus came to walk on earth as a living human being. The Jewish people of that time were (as many Jewish people are still today) waiting with faith for the Christ to arrive as their Lord and Savior thus those with faith in Christ to arrive is what saves them. Today, Christ Jesus as we know as told to us in the New Testament, has already lived a sinless life and chose to take upon our wrongdoings to pay for our sins, suffered and died on a cross for us, and rose from death so that you and I too can rise from death and be with Him forever.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).Today, it is our having faith that Christ Jesus has fulfilled the wages of our sins for us that we are saved via God's mercy and grace. Have you repented of your sins and have placed your faith in Christ Jesus to save you?
